This study presents a novel cyber-resilient, data-driven optimisation framework for real-time energy management in electric vehicle (EV)-integrated smart grids. The proposed framework integrates a hybrid optimisation engine—combining genetic algorithms and reinforcement learning—with a real-time analytics module to enable adaptive scheduling under uncertainty. It accounts for dynamic electricity pricing, EV mobility patterns, and grid load fluctuations, dynamically reallocating charging demand in response to evolving grid conditions. Unlike existing GA/RL schedulers, this framework uniquely integrates adaptive optimisation with resilient forecasting under incomplete data and lightweight blockchain-inspired cyber-defence, thereby addressing efficiency, accuracy, and security simultaneously. To ensure secure and trustworthy EV–grid communication, a lightweight blockchain-inspired protocol is incorporated, supported by an intrusion detection system (IDS) for cyber-attack mitigation. Empirical evaluation using European smart grid datasets demonstrates a daily peak demand reduction of 9.6% (from 33 kWh to 29.8 kWh), with a 27% decrease in energy delivered at the original peak hour and a redistribution of demand that increases delivery at 19:00 h by nearly 25%. Station utilisation became more balanced, with weekly peak normalised utilisation falling from 1.0 to 0.7. The forecasting module achieved a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.25 kWh and a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) below 20% even with up to 25% missing data. Among tested models, CatBoost outperformed LightGBM and XGBoost with an RMSE of 0.853 kWh and R2 of 0.416. The IDS achieved 94.1% accuracy, an AUC of 0.97, and detected attacks within 50–300 ms, maintaining over 74% detection accuracy under 50% novel attack scenarios. The optimisation runtime remained below 0.4 s even at five times the nominal dataset scale. Additionally, the study outlines a conceptual extension to support location-based planning of charging infrastructure. This proposes the alignment of infrastructure roll-out with forecasted demand to enhance spatial deployment efficiency. While not implemented in the current framework, this forward-looking integration highlights opportunities for synchronising infrastructure development with dynamic usage patterns. Collectively, the findings confirm that the proposed approach is technically robust, operationally feasible, and adaptable to the evolving demands of intelligent EV–smart grid systems. Full article

Slope stability monitoring in open-pit mining remains a critical challenge for geological hazard prevention, where conventional qualitative methods often fail to address dynamic risks. This study proposes an integrated framework combining empirical modeling (slope classification, hazard assessment, and safety ratings) with multi-source real-time monitoring (synthetic aperture radar, machine vision, and Global Navigation Satellite System) to achieve quantitative stability analysis. The method establishes an initial stability baseline through mechanical modeling (Bishop/Morgenstern–Price methods, safety factors: 1.35–1.75 across five mine zones) and dynamically refines it via 3D terrain displacement tracking (0.02 m to 0.16 m average cumulative displacement, 1 h sampling). Key innovations include the following: (1) a convex hull-displacement dual-criterion algorithm for automated sensitive zone identification, reducing computational costs by ~40%; (2) Ku-band synthetic aperture radar subsurface imaging coupled with a Global Navigation Satellite System and vision for centimeter-scale 3D modeling; and (3) a closed-loop feedback mechanism between empirical and real-time data. Field validation at a 140 m high phosphate mine slope demonstrated robust performance under extreme conditions. As electric vehicles (EVs) gain widespread adoption in industrial environments supported by Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) smart grids technology, coordinated charging of multiple EVs has become vital for maintaining grid stability. In response to the scalability challenges faced by traditional algorithms in multi-device environments and the limitations of discrete action spaces in continuous control scenarios, this paper proposes a dynamic charging scheduling algorithm for EVs based on Multi-Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MADDPG). The algorithm combines real-time electricity prices, battery status monitoring, and distributed sensor data to dynamically optimize charging and discharging strategies of multiple EVs in continuous action spaces. The goal is to reduce charging costs and balance grid load through coordinated multi-agent learning. Experimental results show that, compared with baseline methods, the proposed MADDPG algorithm achieves a 41.12% cost reduction over a 30-day evaluation period. Additionally, it effectively adapts to price fluctuations and user demand changes through Vehicle-to-Grid technology, optimizing charging time allocation and enhancing grid stability. Full article

The fast-changing scenario of the transportation industry due to the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) imposes significant challenges on power distribution networks. Challenges such as dynamic and concentrated charging loads necessitate intelligent demand-side management (DSM) strategies to ensure grid stability and cost efficiency. This study proposes a novel two-stage framework integrating Hierarchical Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (HDBSCAN) and linear programming (LP) to optimize EV charging loads across four operational scenarios: Summer Weekday, Summer Weekend, Winter Weekday, and Winter Weekend. Utilizing a dataset of 72,856 real-world charging sessions, the first stage employs HDBSCAN to segment charging behaviors into nine distinct clusters (Davies-Bouldin score: 0.355, noise fraction: 1.62%), capturing temporal, seasonal, and behavioral variability. The second stage applies linear programming optimization to redistribute loads under real-time pricing (RTP), minimizing operational costs and peak demand while adhering to grid constraints. Results demonstrate the load optimization by total peak reductions of 321.87–555.15 kWh (23.10–25.41%) and cost savings of $27.35–$50.71 (2.87–5.31%), with load factors improving by 14.29–17.14%. The framework’s scalability and adaptability make it a robust solution for smart grid integration, offering precise load management and economic benefits. Full article

With the rapid growth of urban logistics demand, carbon emissions and the time-varying nature of vehicle speeds have become critical challenges in sustainable transportation planning. This paper addresses a Time-Dependent Green Vehicle Routing Problem (TDGVRP) that integrates time-varying speeds, carbon emissions, and cold chain logistics under a joint distribution framework involving multiple depots and homogeneous refrigerated vehicles. A Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model is developed, explicitly considering carbon pricing, refrigeration energy consumption, and speed variations across different time periods. To efficiently solve large-scale instances, a Three-Phase Heuristic (TPH) algorithm is proposed, combining spatiotemporal path construction, local-improvement strategies, and an Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (ALNS) mechanism. Computational experiments show that the proposed method outperforms traditional Genetic Algorithms (GAs) in both solution quality and computation time, and in some benchmark cases even achieves better results than the commercial solver Gurobi, demonstrating its robustness and scalability. Using real-world traffic speed data, comparative analysis reveals that the joint distribution strategy reduces total logistics costs by 14.40%, carbon emission costs by 23.12%, and fleet size by approximately 25% compared to single-entity distribution. The findings provide a practical and scalable solution framework for sustainable cold chain logistics routing in time-dependent urban road networks. Full article

Economic stability in emerging market economies is increasingly shaped by the interplay between global financial integration, domestic monetary dynamics, and asset price fluctuations. Yet, early detection of financial market disruptions remains a persistent challenge. This study constructs a Financial Stress Index (FSI) for Pakistan, utilizing monthly data from 2005 to 2024, to capture systemic stress in a globalized context. Using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the FSI consolidates diverse indicators, including banking sector fragility, exchange market pressure, stock market volatility, money market spread, external debt exposure, and trade finance conditions, into a single, interpretable measure of financial instability. The index is externally validated through comparisons with the U.S. STLFSI4, the Global Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) Index, the Geopolitical Risk (GPR) Index, and the OECD Composite Leading Indicator (CLI). The results confirm that Pakistan’s FSI responds meaningfully to both global and domestic shocks. It successfully captures major stress episodes, including the 2008 global financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and politically driven local disruptions. A key understanding is the index’s ability to distinguish between sudden global contagion and gradually emerging domestic vulnerabilities. Empirical results show that banking sector risk, followed by trade finance constraints and exchange rate volatility, are the leading contributors to systemic stress. Granger causality analysis reveals that financial stress has a significant impact on macroeconomic performance, particularly in terms of GDP growth and trade flows. These findings emphasize the importance of monitoring sector-specific vulnerabilities in an open economy like Pakistan. The FSI offers strong potential as an early warning system to support policy design and strengthen economic resilience. Future modifications may include incorporating real-time market-based metrics indicators to better align the index with global stress patterns. Full article

To address the increasing need for clean energy and efficient resource utilization, this paper aims to provide a cooperative framework and a fair profit allocation mechanism for integrated photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems that are shared among different types of users within a regional alliance, including industrial, commercial, and residential users. A cooperative game model is proposed and formulated by a two-level optimization problem: the upper level determines the optimal PV and storage capacities to maximize the alliance’s net profit, while the lower level allocates profits using an improved Nash bargaining approach based on Shapley value. The model simultaneously incorporates different real-world factors such as time-of-use electricity pricing, system life cycle cost, and load diversity. The results demonstrate that coordination between energy storage systems and PV systems can avoid 18% of solar curtailment losses. Compared to independent deployment by individual users, the cooperative sharing model increases the net present value by 8.41%, highlighting improvements in cost-effectiveness, renewable resource utilization, and operational flexibility. Users with higher demand or better load–generation matching gain greater economic returns, which can provide decision-making guidance for the government in formulating differentiated subsidy policies. Climate change poses significant challenges to the economic and social sustainability of urban dwellers, particularly in the real estate market, where rising temperatures are affecting property values. While most research focuses on how climate change impacts buyers and sellers, this study shifts attention to renters, who may be more vulnerable to climate-induced price increases. By analyzing rental price and climate data, this study uses ordinary least squares (OLS) and fixed-effects regressions to assess the impact of temperature fluctuations on rental rates across 50 major U.S. metropolitan areas. The findings reveal a positive and significant relationship between rising temperatures and rental rates, particularly in the Northeastern and Southern U.S. These results suggest that targeted policy interventions may help ease financial pressures on vulnerable renters and support more sustainable urban development over time. The analysis also highlights the potential role of energy efficiency measures in rental housing to lower energy costs and alleviate rent burdens. Additionally, the findings indicate that local policymakers may consider rent stabilization strategies and investments in urban green infrastructure to protect low-income renters, reduce localized heat exposure, and promote long-term urban resilience. Aiming at the incentive effect of real-time electricity prices on load demand response in the context of the electricity market, this paper proposed a dual layer optimization operation method for regional energy storage considering dynamic electricity prices and battery capacity degradation. The innovation of the proposed method lies in introducing user satisfaction and establishing real-time electricity price models based on fuzzy theory and consumer satisfaction, making dynamic electricity prices more realistic. At the same time, the proposed dual layer optimization operation model for regional energy storage has modeled the capacity degradation performance of energy storage batteries, which more accurately reflects the practicality of energy storage batteries. Finally, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to efficiently optimize charging/discharging strategies, balancing economic benefits with battery longevity. The correctness of the proposed method is verified through simulation examples using MATLAB. Simulation results demonstrate that real-time electricity prices based on consumer satisfaction increase load demand response resources, resulting in stronger absorption of new energy sources, improving by 73.7%, albeit with reduced economic efficiency by 11.27%. While the real-time electricity prices based on fuzzy theory exhibit weaker absorption of new energy sources improving by only 36.4%, but achieve the best overall economic performance. Full article

This paper seeks to provide a cost benefit analysis of the implementation of a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging strategy relative to a smart charging (V1G) strategy from the perspective of an individual electric vehicle (EV) owner with and without solar photovoltaics (PV) located on their roof. This work utilizes a novel AC optimized power flow model (ACOPF) to produce distributed location marginal prices (DLMP) on a modified IEEE-33 node network and uses a complete set of real-world costs and benefits to perform this analysis. Costs, in the form of the addition of a bi-directional charger and the increased vehicle depreciation incurred by a V2G strategy, are calculated using modern reference sources. This produces a more true-to-life comparison of the V1G and V2G strategies from the frame of reference of EV owners, rather than system operators, with parameterization of EV penetration levels performed to look at how the choice of strategy may change over time. Counter to much of the existing literature, when the analysis is performed in this manner it is found that the benefits of implementing a V2G strategy in the U.S.—given current compensation schemes—do not outweigh the incurred costs to the vehicle owner. This result helps explain the gap in findings between the existing literature—which typically finds that a V2G strategy should be favored—and the real world, where V2G is rarely employed by EV owners. Understanding structural regime shifts in crypto asset markets is vital for early detection of systemic risk. This study applies the Generalized Sup Augmented Dickey–Fuller (GSADF) test to daily high-frequency price data of five major crypto assets—BTC, ETH, SOL, AAVE, and BCH—from 2023 to 2025. The results reveal asset-specific structural breaks: BTC and BCH aligned with macroeconomic shocks, while DeFi tokens (e.g., AAVE, SOL) exhibited fragmented, project-driven shifts. The S&P 500 index, in contrast, showed no persistent regime shifts, indicating greater structural stability. To examine inter-asset linkages, we construct co-occurrence matrices based on GSADF breakpoints. These reveal strong co-explosivity between BTC and other assets, and unexpectedly weak synchronization between ETH and AAVE, underscoring the sectoral idiosyncrasies of DeFi tokens. While the GSADF test remains central to our analysis, we also employ a Markov Switching Model (MSM) as a secondary tool to capture short-term volatility clustering. Together, these methods provide a layered view of long- and short-term market dynamics. This study highlights crypto markets’ structural heterogeneity and proposes scalable computational frameworks for real-time monitoring of explosive behavior. Full article

The widespread deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) has introduced substantial challenges to electricity pricing, grid stability, and renewable energy integration. This paper proposes a real-time pricing optimization framework for large-scale EV charging networks incorporating renewable intermittency, demand elasticity, and infrastructure constraints within a high-dimensional optimization model. The core objective is to dynamically determine spatiotemporal electricity prices that simultaneously reduce system peak load, improve renewable energy utilization, and minimize user charging costs. A rigorous mathematical formulation is developed integrating over 40 system-level constraints, including power balance, transmission capacity, renewable curtailment, carbon targets, voltage regulation, demand-side flexibility, social participation, and cyber resilience. Real-time electricity prices are treated as dynamic decision variables influenced by charging station utilization, elasticity response curves, and the marginal cost of renewable and grid-supplied electricity. The problem is solved over 96 time intervals using a hybrid solution approach, with benchmark comparisons against mixed-integer programming (MILP) and deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based baselines. A comprehensive case study is conducted on a 500-station EV charging network serving 10,000 vehicles integrated with a modified IEEE 118-bus grid model and 800 MW of variable renewable energy. Historical charging data with ±12% stochastic demand variation and real-world solar and wind profiles are used to simulate realistic operational conditions. Results demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves a 23.4% average peak load reduction per station, a 17.9% improvement in renewable energy utilization, and user cost savings of up to 30% compared to baseline flat-rate pricing. Utilization imbalances across the network are reduced, with congestion mitigation observed at over 90% of high-traffic stations. The real-time pricing model successfully aligns low-price windows with high-renewable periods and off-peak hours, achieving time-synchronized load shifting and system-wide flexibility. Visual analytics including high-resolution 3D surface plots and disaggregated bar charts reveal structured patterns in demand–price interactions, confirming the model’s ability to generate smooth, non-disruptive pricing trajectories. The rapid growth of live e-commerce, a sector valued at over USD 100 billion worldwide, demonstrates its transformative impact on the retail industry, especially in markets like China, where platforms such as Taobao Live and TikTok Shop have markedly altered consumer interaction. This transition is further expedited by Netflix-like entertainment marketing methods, which have demonstrated the capacity to enhance consumer retention by as much as 40%. As organizations adjust to this evolving landscape, it is essential to optimize supply chain strategies to align with these dynamic, consumer-centric environments. This paper examines the complexity of decision-making in live e-commerce supply chains, specifically regarding Netflix-inspired marketing strategies. The primary aim of this study is to design a game-theoretic framework that examines the interactions between producers and online celebrity retailers (OCRs) across different power dynamics. As live commerce integrates digital retail with immersive experiences, businesses must optimize pricing, quality, and marketing strategies in real-time. We present engagement-driven marketing as a strategic variable and incorporate consumer regret and switching costs into the demand function. To illustrate practical trade-offs in strategy, we incorporate a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) layer with AHP-TOPSIS, assessing profit, consumer surplus, engagement score, and channel efficiency. The experiment results indicate that Netflix-style marketing markedly increases demand and profit in retailer-led frameworks, whereas centralized tactics enhance overall channel performance. TOPSIS analysis prioritizes high-effort, high-engagement methods, whereas the Stackelberg experiment underscores the influence of power dynamics on profit distribution. This study presents an innovative integrative decision-making methodology for enhancing live-streaming commerce tactics in data-driven and consumer-focused markets. Full article

Flexibility is advocated as an effective solution to address the growing need to alleviate grid congestion, necessitating efficient energy management strategies for industrial operations. This paper presents a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP)-based optimization framework for a flexible asset in an industrial setting, aiming to minimize operational costs and enhance energy efficiency. The method integrates dynamic pricing and real-time grid analysis, alongside a state estimation model using Extended Kalman Filtering (EKF) that improves the accuracy of system state predictions. Model Predictive Control (MPC) is employed for real-time adjustments. A real-world case studies from aquaculture industries and industrial power grids in Denmark demonstrates the approach. By leveraging dynamic pricing and grid signals, the system enables adaptive pump scheduling, achieving a 27% reduction in energy costs while maintaining voltage stability within 0.95–1.05 p.u. and ensuring operational safety. These results confirm the effectiveness of grid-aware, flexible control in reducing costs and enhancing stability, supporting the transition toward smarter, sustainable industrial energy systems. Demand Side Management (DSM) plays a crucial role in modern energy systems, enabling more efficient use of energy resources and contributing to the sustainability of the power grid. This study examines DSM strategies within a multi-environment context encompassing residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, with a focus on diverse appliance types that exhibit distinct operational characteristics and user preferences. Initially, a single-objective optimization approach using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) is employed to minimize the total energy cost under a real Time-of-Use (ToU) pricing scheme. This heuristic method allows for the effective scheduling of appliance operations while factoring in their unique characteristics such as power consumption, usage duration, and user-defined operational flexibility. This study extends the optimization problem to a multi-objective framework that incorporates the minimization of CO2 emissions under a real annual energy mix while also accounting for user discomfort. The Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) is utilized for this purpose, providing a Pareto-optimal set of solutions that balances these competing objectives. The inclusion of multiple objectives ensures a comprehensive assessment of DSM strategies, aiming to reduce environmental impact and enhance user satisfaction. Additionally, this study monitors the Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) to evaluate the impact of DSM strategies on load balancing and grid stability. It also analyzes the impact of considering different periods of the year with the associated ToU hourly schedule and CO2 emissions hourly profile. A key innovation of this research is the integration of detailed, category-specific metrics that enable the disaggregation of costs, emissions, and user discomfort across residential, commercial, and industrial appliances. This granularity enables stakeholders to implement tailored strategies that align with specific operational goals and regulatory compliance. Also, the emphasis on a user discomfort indicator allows us to explore the flexibility available in such DSM mechanisms. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-objective optimization approach in achieving significant cost savings that may reach 20% for industrial applications, while the order of magnitude of the trade-offs involved in terms of emissions reduction, improvement in discomfort, and PAR reduction is quantified for different frameworks. The outcomes not only underscore the efficacy of applying advanced optimization frameworks to real-world problems but also point to pathways for future research in smart energy management. This comprehensive analysis highlights the potential of advanced DSM techniques to enhance the sustainability and resilience of energy systems while also offering valuable policy implications.
