Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Bleeding disorders, either congenital or acquired, are responsible for high mortality in children, and involve a variety of mechanisms, which have been partially uncovered. These clinical conditions are either disorders of coagulation (e.g., haemophilia, von Willebrand disease), platelet disorders (e.g., immune thrombocytopenia) or inherited vascular and connective tissue disorders (e.g., Ehlers Danlos syndrome, Marfan’s syndrome). Bleeding alteration may result also from or non-thrombocytopenic purpura, infections, drugs etc.
The diagnosis and management of children with congenital and acquired bleeding disorders requires a thorough understanding of the underlying mechanisms of these conditions, including the molecular genetic analysis.
Particular attention needs to be paid to neonates, where further investigation into neonatal platelets dysfunctionalities, the alteration of coagulation factors needs to be thoroughly investigated.
In this Special Issue, we welcome haematologists, paediatricians, geneticists, immunologists, basic science researchers and other clinical experts and scientists to contribute papers on paediatric bleeding disease and innovative treatments.
We are looking forward to your contributions.
