Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript analyzed the characteristics of land use transition from the viewpoint of PLES taking Guangxi as an example, and then examined the single and comprehensive eco-environmental effects caused by land use transition.

1. The syntax used in line 15 “the production-living-ecological spaces (PLES) also the landscape pattern are reconfigured” is nonstandard.

2. Although the abbreviation “PLES” has been defined in the abstract in line 16, it need to be defined once more in the text to write the full name and give the abbreviation in brackets.

3. Both EQI and ERI are calculated based on Land use data, please explain the necessity of analyzing spatial autocorrelation between them.

4. Figure 1 is the research framework of the paper which can’t support the viewpoint in line 98-99. Here should quote some references.

5. Reference should be added in “3.3.1. Eco-environmental Quality Index”.

6. “This paper firstly put forward the research framework of comprehensive eco-environmental effects caused by land use transition to analyze the relations and interactions among land use transition, interconversion of PLES, eco-environmental quality and landscape ecological risk”, so research framework and the method referring should be discussed more in “5 Prospect”.

Reviewer 2 Report

I have reviewed the manuscript titled " Comprehensive Eco-environmental Effects caused by Land Use Transition in Typical Region: from the Perspective of Production-Living-Ecological Spaces".

I do find it suitable for the Land and I would like to congratulate the authors who made effort to write this research paper which is very important from the perspective of Eco-Environmental effects caused by Landuse transition (Perspective of Production-Living-Ecological Spaces) and highlight the current practices. The manuscript is written very well and well organized.

Therefore, I do recommend this paper be published in the Land journal.

The MS does contribute new in terms of methodology - a set of well-known methods have been applied and explained in this term paper and these methods are important as well.

I see a fruitful discussion on the generated datasets. The introduction is improved and the scientific problem has been clearly identified and addressed.

I do see little novelty in both scientific findings and methodological improvement.

Reviewer 3 Report

The manuscript entitled “Comprehensive Eco-environmental Effects caused by Land Use Transition in Typical Region: from the Perspective of Production-Living-Ecological Spaces” focuses on a topic of sure interest for the readership of Land Journal. It is generally well structured. However, it has some unclear issues. Please see the following list of comments that could help authors improve their study:

- Please include the case study in the title.

- The authors should highlight the aspects in which your research departs from the existing literature and should also include the contributions of your research to science.

- What limitations does your study have? what have you done to minimize these limitations?

- A real discussion is missing from this study. The authors should compare the results achieved in this study with the results achieved in other similar studies. In addition, the authors should better explain the results achieved in this study.

- Minor grammar and punctuation errors can be found throughout the text and need to be corrected.

Reviewer 4 Report

The topic of Land Use Transition is a very thoughtful one. The authors did a very good analysis, presentation, and discussion of the results.

Minor improvements could include discussing the results compared with other regions globally, given the land use problems and dynamics across the globe.
