Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The agricultural industry has long relied on synthetic chemicals to combat plant pathogens, leading to concerns over environmental and health impacts. Furthermore, the misuse of these chemicals is resulting in the development of microbial resistance.

This Special Issue aims to explore the potential of natural plant extracts in combating microbial species and enhancing productivity in horticulture. It seeks to assess various plant extracts’ antimicrobial properties and their suitability for controlling bacterial, viral, and fungal infections in plants. Additionally, this Special Issue aims to investigate the mechanisms of action of these natural compounds and explore strategies for their application in agricultural settings.

The cutting-edge research that will be featured in this Special Issue includes studies on the efficacy of different plant extracts, essential oils, and active compounds in inhibiting the growth of phytopathogenic microorganisms. Researchers are also encouraged to investigate novel formulations to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of these natural compounds, thus improving their effectiveness in the field.

We are soliciting papers that report original research on the antimicrobial properties of natural plant extracts. Papers addressing the mechanisms of action, formulation development, and field applications of these compounds are encouraged. Both in vitro and in vivo studies evaluating the efficacy of natural compounds in controlling plant pathogens are welcome. Additionally, review articles providing comprehensive insights into the current state of research in the field are encouraged.
