Animal Genetics and Genomics
A section of Animals (ISSN 2076-2615).
Section Information
Animals (ISSN 2076-2615) is an international peer-reviewed open access journal devoted entirely to animals, including zoology and veterinary sciences, published semimonthly online by MDPI. The subsection of Animal Genetics and Genomics focuses on the genetic improvement of economically important domesticated animals and the conservation of genetic resources in domesticated and wild animal populations.
In-depth, original articles and systematic reviews concerning a wide range of animal genetics topics, including those focusing on population genetics, quantitative genetics, conservation genetics, immunogenetics, genomics, epigenomics, and microbial genetics are welcome. Potential topics also include bioinformatics, functional genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. Modern genetics encompasses both population and molecular genetics, as well as metagenomics. Holistically understanding the contributions of all these aspects of genetics is crucial as we strive to efficiently produce animal protein to feed an ever-increasing world population in an environmentally sustainable and humane manner.
