Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Mitochondria, small organelles found in animal cells, play a crucial role in maintaining overall health and preventing diseases via regulating energy metabolism, oxidative stress, energy metabolism, inflammation, immunity, cell autophagy and apoptosis. Additionally, mitochondria are involved in calcium homeostasis, can disrupt cellular functions, and contribute to the development of diseases. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been linked to a variety of health conditions and diseases, including mitochondrial diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, animal nutrition and metabolic diseases, poisoning diseases, etc. Understanding the intricate relationship between mitochondrial function and disease progression is crucial for the development of targeted therapies and interventions aimed at improving animal health and wellbeing. Further exploration of mitochondrial biology and its implications for animal health will provide valuable insights into disease mechanisms and potential treatment strategies.
