Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, entitled "Genetics and Breeding of Wild and Domestic Felines", aims to delve into the genetic makeup and breeding principles of both wild and domestic cats. It will encompass a broad range of topics;hence, researchers studying the genetic diversity and population structure of wild felines or examining genetic differences, gene flow, and genetic adaptations among wild cat populations, are invited to contribute. Additionally, the focus of this Special Issue will be on genetic diseases and markers in wild felines and their impact on population health and survival. For domestic cats, research on genetics, including breed characteristics, genomic structures, genetic diseases, and traits, is encouraged. Manuscripts discussing methods for improving the traits and qualities of both wild and domestic cats, through selective breeding, mating, and genetic enhancement, are welcome. Overall, this Special Issue aims to provide insights into the genetic characteristics and breeding principles of wild and domestic cats, offering scientific foundations for their conservation, management, and the development of domestic cat breeds.
