Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The global population of cancer survivors is on the rise due to factors such as an aging demographic, improved early cancer detection, and recent advancements in cancer treatments. Although cancer-related mortality has seen a decrease, there has been a substantial increase in cardiovascular mortality among these survivors, constituting about a tenth of the survivor population. Gaining a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms and risk factors associated with CVD in this population is crucial for effective prevention, early detection, and management.

The Special Issue encompasses a range of topics related to CVD in cancer survivors, including the cardiotoxic effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, persistent endothelial dysfunction, biological mechanisms like inflammation and oxidative stress, shared lifestyle risk factors that are relevant to both cancer and cardiovascular disease, and personalized medicine approaches, including genetic testing, imaging techniques, and biomarker profiling, to identify high-risk individuals and tailor interventions accordingly.

This Special Issue aims to feature original articles as well as review articles that provide an in-depth understanding of the underlying mechanisms and risk factors associated with CVD in this population, which is critical for effective prevention, early detection, and management.
