The ‘Bioinformatics and Systems Biology’ section of Current Issues in Molecular Biology is a premier platform for the dissemination of cutting-edge research at the intersection of computational and biological sciences. The section publishes original research on advancements in bioinformatics, systems biology, computational biology with applications in medicine, and molecular biology. This section emphasizes the development and application of novel computational, statistical, learning approaches for the modelling and analysis of all kinds of biological data.
The research topics covered in this section include, but are not limited to:
- Pathway analysis;
- Computational modeling of biological systems;
- Algorithms and software tools for biological data interpretation;
- Systems biology modeling and structural bioinformatics;
- Advances and applications of machine learning methods and AI in bioinformatics, molecular biology and medicine;
- The application of bioinformatics in personalized medicine and drug discovery;
- Transcriptomics, gene regulation, and epigenetics;
- Genome and proteome data analysis;
- Databases and ontology for biological data;
- Sequencing and genotyping;
- Analysis of omics data in the context of biological networks;

The plan is to continue to evaluate manuscripts that report novel insights in the field of bioinformatics and system biology. The Editorial Board welcomes new submissions to this section and the journal Current Issues in Molecular Biology.
