2017	The inaugural issue was released. Designs was published as a quarterly journal.
2018	Designs announced the first edition of the Travel award.
2020	Designs was indexed in Scopus. Designs established the following sections: Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Aerospace, Vehicles, and Civil Engineering Design Automation; Bioengineering and Energy Systems Bioengineering Design; Smart Manufacturing Systems and Factories.
2021	Designs received its first CiteScore (2020) of 2.1, ranked CiteScore - Q2 in "Engineering, miscellaneous". Designs established the following sections: Mechanical Engineering Design; Electrical Engineering Design; Civil Engineering Design; Bioengineering Design; Smart Manufacturing System Design; Vehicle Engineering Design; Energy System Design.
2022	Designs adopted a bimonthly publication schedule.
2023	Designs announced the first edition of the Best Paper award. Designs published its 500th paper.
