Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) are mostly diagnosed based on clinical history, assessment of chronological events, and diagnostic reasoning. However, serologies, histopathologic studies, analysis of synovial fluid, synovial biopsy, and radiology investigations such as radiographs, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging all play important and necessary roles in the diagnosis of IRD. This Special Issue of Diagnostics offers state-of-the-art review articles on these investigative methods.

Topics for review articles include the following:

  1. Rational use of serologies in the diagnosis of inflammatory rheumatic diseases: myths, pitfalls, and pearls.
  2. Newer serologies to diagnose and prognosticate rheumatoid arthritis.
  3. Newer serologies and biomarkers in systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjogren's syndrome.

This Special Issue should cover serologies other than rheumatoid factor and anti-citrulline aided peptide antibodies in the diagnosis and prognostication of rheumatoid arthritis.
