Special Issue Information

Dear Researchers and Scientists,

I am pleased to announce this Special Issue of Geriatrics, which is dedicated to exploring the topic of “Molecular Causes of Ageing”. Due to the ever-increasing older population, understanding the fundamental mechanisms governing the ageing process is imperative. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for disseminating cutting-edge research that elucidates the molecular underpinnings of ageing.

Ageing, a complex biological phenomenon, is a subject of intense interest across multiple scientific disciplines. Over the years, advancements in molecular biology and genetics have uncovered several intriguing facets of ageing, from genetic and epigenetic alterations to cellular senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, and the impact of environmental factors.

Potential topics of interest for the Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

Genetic and epigenetic influences on ageing;

Cellular senescence and its role in ageing;

Mitochondrial dysfunction and ageing;

The impact of oxidative stress on the ageing process;

Inflammation and immune system changes in ageing;

Longevity genes and their regulatory pathways;

Diabetes and ageing;

Atherosclerosis and ageing;

Dementia and ageing;

The management of patients with comorbidities;

Personalized medicine for older people;

The role of non-coding RNAs in age-related processes;

Ageing-associated neurodegenerative diseases;

The molecular basis of age-related tissue and organ deterioration;

Interventions to promote healthy ageing and longevity;

Bioinformatics Databases;

Bioinformatics Algorithms.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Geriatrics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
