Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As urbanization continues to burgeon, accounting for over half of the world’s population, cities become epicenters of potential health risks. The emerging complexities of urban systems and their susceptibility to risks and disasters, both natural and man-made, demand a nuanced understanding of urban environmental health and resilience. This Special Issue, titled "Urban Environmental Health: The Resilience of Urban Systems to Risk", is dedicated to unveiling these multifaceted aspects.

In this rapidly urbanized world, pressing challenges such as air and water pollution, waste management, overcrowding, climate change, and related stressors pose significant threats to urban health and well-being. Resilient urban systems that are well-equipped to anticipate, respond to, and recover from these risks are crucial to protect public health. This Special Issue aims to shed light on innovative research and practices that contribute to the resilience of urban systems to these risks.

This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, case studies, reviews, and meta-analyses focusing on urban environmental health and resilience. We encourage contributions from various disciplines such as urban planning, environmental health, epidemiology, and risk assessment and management. Research addressing urban health disparities, innovative mitigation strategies, adaptation policies, and risk management are particularly appreciated. Together, let us explore and understand how to create and maintain resilient and healthy urban environments amidst the trials of urbanization and risk.
