Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In cooperation with the 3rd International One Health Conference, this Special Issue, "Vulnerability and Resilience: A One Health Approach to Environmental and Climate Risks in the Mediterranean," responds to the urgent call for interdisciplinary collaboration in tackling the complex challenges facing the Mediterranean region. Inspired by the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, this Special Issue delves into the interconnected issues of climate change, environmental degradation, and maternal and child health within the context of the Mediterranean.

With the Mediterranean serving as a microcosm of global challenges, this Special Issue emphasizes the need for integrated approaches that address the interplay between environmental, societal, economic, and health factors. By adopting a One Health perspective that recognizes the intrinsic linkages between human, animal, and environmental health, the conference aims to foster holistic solutions that promote resilience and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Drawing upon the momentum of international One Health conferences, this Special Issue advocates for collaborative efforts across disciplines and sectors. It highlights the imperative of knowledge-sharing, capacity-building, and community empowerment to address the heightened risks posed by climate change and environmental hazards. Through targeted interventions and inclusive approaches, this conference endeavors to pave the way for sustainable development and enhanced well-being in the Mediterranean region and beyond.
