Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a forthcoming Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health that delves into a topic of great public health significance, titled ‘Understanding the Associations between the Burden of Psychological Distress and Health Behaviors’.

In today's fast-paced world, 50% of people report psychological distress (symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress) and three in every five report feeling stressed and unable to cope or deal with life stressors. The intricate relationship between psychological distress and health behaviors has emerged as a focal point in the pursuit of well-being, prevention, and health equity. This Special Issue aims to create a platform for highlighting cutting-edge research that explores the nuanced connections between psychological distress and health behaviors to foster greater health equity. We welcome contributions that investigate the bi-directional influence between these factors, ranging from studies that analyze psychological distress as determinants of health behaviors to those that elucidate how certain behaviors impact outcomes of psychological distress. We also welcome studies that investigate the role of interventions aimed at improving psychological distress, and consequently, health behaviors.

We will accept submissions of original research, reviews, or theoretical papers that contribute to the overarching theme of this Special Issue.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Dr. Andrea Lopez-Cepero
Guest Editor
