Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Immune system regulation and oxidative stress represent a current research topic of rising interest across a broad spectrum of medical professions. Chronic diseases have a significant prevalence worldwide and are frequently accompanied by a number of consequences. Despite improved screening techniques and a major improvement in our understanding of the pathogenesis of these illnesses, their incidence is still high. One of the most significant routes contributing to these illnesses is oxidative stress, and immune system regulation is also a direct contributor. The mechanisms behind the onset and development of many disorders are poorly understood.

Multiple studies have emphasized the critical role that immune system regulation and oxidative stress play in the development of chronic diseases, despite the fact that the relationship between these two is not yet fully understood. However, they are not exclusively involved in damage-related processes. Redox state, a crucial mechanism in numerous physiological processes such as cell signaling adaptations and hypothalamic regulation of hunger, is linked to oxidative stress. It is also well known that inflammatory mediators play a crucial role in the pathways connected to chronic illnesses. There is no question that oxidative stress and immune system modulation are related in chronic diseases, but a more thorough investigation of this issue would be very helpful to clearly understand the mechanistic pathways and to lay a strong foundation for potential prevention or treatment strategies. However, when these two occurrences are uncontrolled, they have negative effects.

This Special Issue's main goal is to create an integrative mechanistic model for a better understanding of how immune system regulation and oxidative stress related to chronic illnesses. Original research as well as review articles are invited for submission.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
