The International Society for Information Studies Summit 2017

The conference is organized by the International Society for Information Studies IS4SI, with the Department of Applied Information Technology, belonging to both Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg, as local organizer.

IS4SI is a biennial summit that gathers researchers from all over the world within information studies and related fields. It provides the meeting place for researchers from academia and industry, educators, societal stakeholders and others from a broad range of communities. Among others, the summit 2017 incorporates the FIS (Foundations of Information Science) 7th conference and the 3rd conference on the Philosophy of Information, The Difference that makes a Difference (DTMD) conference and International Forum on Ecology of Information Studies (IFEIS).

The IS4IS summits have their predecessors in conferences held in Beijing in 2010, and Moscow in 2013. The 2015 summit was hosted by Vienna University of Technology, while the next 2019 summit is planned at the University of California, Berkeley.
