Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid progress of digital technology brings the possibility of innovation in various social issues, such as environment protection, coping with an aging society, regional activation, new life style (products or services) design and so on. I think it is very important to innovate human life based on modern digital technologies.

The International Conference on Information and Social Science (ISS) has been held in Japan every year since 2013. Among the main research topics of this international conference, social innovation based on new digital technologies has been very important.

At the ISS 2016, new research or ideas concerning social innovation is emphasized. Of course, research on new technology aiding social innovation is of utmost importance. Papers concerning social or cultural research in digital technology in social innovation are also welcomed.

I invite authors who have submitted abstracts and registered to the ISS 2016 (http://iainst.org/iss), to consider publication of a full manuscript in this Special Issue.

In this Special Issue, I am looking forward to submissions of original papers on technologies, systems, models or ideas that support innovation in human society or human communication.

The focus of this issue will reflect one of the following subjects:

(1) Open data and big data for local citizens and governments

(2) Innovation of social systems based on modern information technology

(3) The new scope of digital communication and human networking
