Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit contributions to this Special Issue entitled “Cadastre: Geospatial Innovations in Digital Land Administration”. Land administration systems lay the foundation for supporting the processes of determining, recording, and disseminating information about the ownership, value, use, and development of land and property. As the engine of any land administration system, a cadastre is parcel-based and up-to-date land information which includes a record of interests in land (i.e., rights, restrictions, and responsibilities).

This Special Issue will gather researchers who will present innovative and fresh geospatial approaches, application case studies, and insights that can advance our knowledge of the development, use, and management of cadastres, as well as associated legislations and institutional frameworks for digital land administration.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the latest improvements in cadastres, with examples and case studies from various parts of the world, in order to develop new approaches in digital land administration and the following topics:

  • Geospatial innovations in land administration;
  • Blockchain-enabled land administration;
  • Artificial intelligence (AI)-driven solutions for cadastre and land administration;
  • Spatially enabled digital twins for cadastre and land administration;
  • Big data analytics and cloud computing for land administration;
  • 3D scanning and modelling approaches for urban land administration;
  • Augmented and virtual reality solutions in digital cadastres and land administration;
  • Cadastral data models and standards for land administration;
  • Registration and storage of digital land information;
  • Digital data validation and quality control in cadastral systems;
  • New methods for querying and analysing cadastral information;
  • Legal and institutional challenges in digital land administration;
  • Intellectual property and copyright in digital cadastral data;
  • Jurisdictional developments in modern land administration.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
