Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Recently, interest in nanosized ferrite particles has significantly increased due to their importance in understanding the fundamentals in nanomagnetism. Novel magnetic behaviors are perceived for the nanosized magnetic particles when compared to that of the bulk counterparts. High magnetocrystalline anisotropy and good chemical stability has completed ferrite NPs, a very promising candidate for diverse applications as in magnetic drug delivery to magnetic recording applications such as audio and video tape and high density digital recording discs. The magnetic properties of the nanosized ferrite particles are greatly affected by the size of the particles, by cation substitution and distribution. Magnetic properties of ferrites are strictly related to the distribution of cations between octahedral and tetrahedral sites in the spinel structure, the control of cation distribution provides a means to tailor their properties. Cation distribution depends on the electronic configuration, valence of ions and nanoparticle size. Ferrite nanoparticles can be prepared by a variety of methods such as hydrothermal synthesis, ball-milling, co-precipitation, combustion reaction and the reverse micelles technique.

In this Special Issue, we welcome articles that focus on magnetic properties of ferrite  and ferrite based Particles and their applications in different fields. Fully controllable fast and low-cost processes especially remain of interest, with a high implementation potential in advanced aplications that allows producing high-performance NPs.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
