Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Supramolecular functional materials (SFMs) based on non-covalent interactions have received extensive interest in recent years. Multiple hydrogen bonding, host-guest inclusion, metal coordination, and aromatic stacking interactions are employed to obtain composite structures or construct SFMs with stable architectures, stimuli-responsive, self-healing or recycable properties, etc. SFMs can be utilized as biomedical, flexible electronic, self-healing, dielectric materials, and heat-conducting materials, as well as in degradable or recyclable structures. Thus, this Issue addresses key scientific progress and existing challenges in this field. With the rapidly growing area of SFMs, it is anticipated that they will shape the future of supramolecular chemistry and materials science. Additionally, they hold great promise for use in research fields such as chemical engineering, biomedicine, electronics and the environment. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Preparation of supramolecular complexes or polymers;
  2. Supramolecular materials based on multiple hydrogen bonding, host-guest inclusion, metal coordination, and aromatic stacking interactions;
  3. Self-assemblies for drug controlled release, anti-bacterial, fluorescence, electronic and recycable applications;
  4. Supramolecular materials for electronic or environmental application;
  5. Supramolecular composite materials for advanced or functionial application.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
