Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The Internet of Things concept involves the integration of multiple wireless sensors in advanced network topologies that are large-scale and distributed over a large geographical area. These wireless sensor nodes are objects that have Internet connectivity with the ability to monitor and interact with the environment.

The IoT concept is supported by many LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) communication protocols that allow the integration of a very large number of wireless sensors such as LoRaWAN (long-range wireless area network), SigFox, NB-IoT (narrow-band IoT), etc.

This Special Issue will focus on state-of-the-art technologies and IoT applications, considering the main challenges they face. Some of the related topics that are not limited to include: new wireless communications design protocols, IoT and Blockchain architectures, spectrum sensing applications and artificial intelligence in IoT deployments.

We shall solicit papers that cover numerous topics of interest that include but are not limited to:

  • IoT communication protocols for future wireless networks.
  • New applications using Sigfox, LoRa and other IoT communications protocols.
  • LoRa satellite communications.
  • New wireless communications protocols and techniques.
  • Modelling and design frameworks for IoT enhancement.
  • IoT and blockchain applications and architectures.
  • Spectrum sensing techniques for IoT communications.
  • Disease detection using AI algorithms.
  • Artificial intelligence and IoT deployments.
  • Applications and examples of use.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
