Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

A selection of the best works presented during the 11th Ibero-American Congress on Sensors IBERSENSOR 2018 will be collected in the Special Issue of the Journal Sensors: ‘Selected Papers from Ibersensor Conference 2018’. The workshop, held in Barcelona on 18-21 September, 2018, is a unique forum for scientific and technological exchange among iberoamerican researchers doing research in the field of sensors and their applications. This Congress has a long tradition that started in the year 1998 in Cuba and has been held every two years in cities through all Ibero-America: La Habana, Cuba (1998), Buenos Aires, Argentina (2000), Lima, Perú (2002), Puebla, México (2004), Montevideo, Uruguay (2006), Sao Paulo, Brasil (2008), Lisboa, Portugal (2010) and San Jose, Puerto Rico (2012); Bogotá, Colombia (2014) and Valparaíso, Chile (2016). Steady progress and growth of these meetings has contributed to promote the potential of our community countries in this field, which constitutes one of the most significant and fast developing scientific activities on a worldwide scale.

This conference focus a variety of areas ranged from physics and chemistry to engineering of materials and electrical engineering. In addition, it covers sessions on Key Enabling Technologies (KETs), such as nanotechnology, micro and nanoelectronics including semiconductors, advanced materials, biotechnology and photonics.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles, as well as review articles, to this Special Issue. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Chemical sensors and biosensors
  • Micro Total Analytical Systems and LOCs
  • Wearable sensor systems
  • Optofluidic systems
  • Intelligent sensors and wireless networks
  • Signal conditioning and instrumentation
  • Applied signal and image processing
  • MEMS and actuators
  • Micro-power generation
  • Environmental applications
  • Medical applications & point of care devices
  • Agro and food industry applications
  • Biological and biomedical applications

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
