Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Smart technologies have emerged as the major player in healthcare and bioanalytical applications. They have had an enormous impact on personalized health by empowering the general population to monitor and manage their health by frequent monitoring of basic health parameters via wearable smart devices. Further, point-of-care (POC) testing has witnessed a phenomenal change in the last decade, as many prospective POC devices, such as those based on electrochemical sensing, paper-based assays, lab-on-a-chip formats, and lateral flow assays, have been interfaced with smart devices such as smartphones and smart gadgets. A wide range of prospective in vitro diagnostic (IVD) formats for multifarious bioanalytical applications have also been developed by interfacing the diagnostic platforms with smart readout devices. The integration of smart features in the IVD readers provides highly valuable information to healthcare authorities, policy makers, professionals and researchers. The spatiotemporal-tagged results are stored securely in the Cloud, thereby providing the desired Big Data for further analysis. Mobile healthcare is playing a big role in increasing the outreach of healthcare and has led to a significant reduction in healthcare costs. There is a need to develop cost-effective and rapid smart technologies together with complementary assisting technologies to provide significant advantages for prospective healthcare and bioanalytical applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
