Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Advances in low-power wireless capabilities, combined with advanced sensing technologies, have expanded the horizons for wireless sensing in countless applications, such as precision health, precision agriculture, smart homes, and automotive industries, among others. In particular, radio frequency identification (RFID) has enabled well-established applications such as access cards, contactless payments with authorized transactions, and tracking apparels, livestock, and goods in supply chain logistics. Incorporating RFID platforms with low-power sensors and readout circuits has resulted in advanced wireless sensing platforms.

The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight the state of the art in the broad area of the design of wireless identification and sensing platforms. It will bring together discussions related to the current developments, design strategies, development outcomes, and best practices in wireless identification and sensing platforms for various applications. We encourage potential authors to submit contributions of original research, surveys, new developments, and substantial experimental works concerning wireless sensors.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • RFID-enabled sensors;
  • Wirelessly powered passive sensors;
  • Low-power, long range, active wireless sensors;
  • Wireless readers (Interrogators) for wireless sensors;
  • Low-power sensing systems;
  • Wireless identification systems;
  • Low-power wireless sensors;
  • Low-power readout circuits for resistive, capacitive, or inductive sensors;
  • Robust and high-resolution readout circuits for high-caliber sensors;
  • Long-range, backscattering communication for wireless sensors;
  • Smart algorithms, adaptive readers for wireless sensors;
  • Analysis and modelling of wireless sensing systems;
  • Wireless biosensors;
  • Wireless environmental and agricultural sensors.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
