Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has evolved over time and has positioned itself as one of the main pillars for the development of any project undertaken by a company. From an academic point of view, there has been extensive research on its importance for the economic benefits of the company and for community development. Furthermore, as empirical evidence shows, CSR practices may have positive consequences in terms of both internal and external development of companies, improving confidence in them and reinforcing their reputations.

CSR actions that companies can carry out are of different natures: Economic actions, social actions and environmental actions (the triple bottom line). This Special Issue is focused in the environmental actions. In the last few years, businesses have started to become aware of the importance of environmental practices. Some papers have made a remarkable effort to show the competitiveness improvements that some businesses can achieve by introducing environmental practices. This Special Issue invites research papers aimed at a wide range of environmental issues in relation to improving the CSR actions of the companies: Environmental certification with different standards, development and certification of environmental reports to improve communication to stakeholders, collaboration with stakeholders in environmental matters, introduction of environmental initiatives in human resources management (e.g., environmental training, rewards for environmental achievements), and incorporation of the environment into the organizational structure of a firm (e.g., with an environmental department or a manager).

We particularly welcome papers that offer theoretical review of the state-of-the-art or empirical results about previous environmental aspects or similar, and their relationship with the CSR actions of companies.
