Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript by Ali et al utilize clove flower extracts and explored their biological potency on

wounds infected with multidrug-resistant bacteria in diabetic rats. The work is appropriate for the journal, the results are interesting, and an excellent presentation

So, I recommend that the article be accepted after minor revision

How long did the maceration last?

The explanation of Figure 3 should be expanded

Does the introduction provide sufficient background and include all relevant references?

Ok. A background  on the use of topical hydrogels based plant extracts was given. The English and word phrases of the whole manuscript were reviewed again throughout Sweden colleagues.

How long did the maceration last?

The work started Jan/ 2017 and the isolation of bacteria involved in DFU and their characterization lasted 1 year and the rest of the work completed via 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. The manuscript was then written and submitted.

The explanation of Figure 3 should be expanded.

Thank you.  It was done in the manuscript

1. It is not clear what concentration of the CFE extract was employed for in vivo experiment (topical application). Was it a hydrogel preparation? Please provide details of the exact composition

CFE and cefepime a hydrogel preparation was rewritten in clear and details. an corrections used  were showed and given again in Materials and Methods in the manuscript.

2. In the introduction section, the authors are invited to mention some other phytotherapeutical approach for wound healing procedure, including examples of hydrogels. Useful information can be found at https://doi.org/10.3390/pr9112096, https://doi.org/10.3390/plants10071390 and https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biopha.2022.112730

Thank you for this comment. Ok, we surveyed the links proposed and added a background on the the use of hydrogels based plant extracts for wound healing in introduction section.

3. Taking into account the complexity of the experimental design, a conclusion section is mandatory, highlighting the main results and future work

An easy and short conclusion is given in the manuscript Thank you.  It was done in the manuscript

4.  There are some minor mistakes in term of spelling/sentence correction and striketrhout to be adjusted.

The manuscript  was reviewed nagain taking in account such note.
