Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear authors,

Well done on conducting such a thorough and interesting study. I enjoyed reviewing your work.

My only concern with your study is the numerous English language issues contained throughout all sequences of the manuscript. Please use the annotated PDF with my comments / issues for your reference when revising your manuscript.

Please also consider more carefully the placement of your Figures within the text of the manuscript. Each Figure should be placed immediately following the first mention of the Figure's data in the text of the manuscript. Also, do not have consecutive Figures immediately adjacent to one another. Each Figure must be separated from each of the other Figures via the text of the manuscript.

These two points are my only issues with your study. Again, excellent study which was very interesting to read.

Kind regards,

Andrew.

Reviewer 2 Report

The current study deals with genome-wide identification, expression patterns and sugar transport of the physic nut SWEET gene family and functional analysis of JcSWEET16 in Arabidopsis. This is an interesting study and the authors have collected a unique dataset using the cutting-edge methodology. Overall, this is a clear, concise, and well-written manuscript, except for some parts of the body.

However, I general following comments below;

  1. In the abstract, the authors should mention well the role of the genes involved in drought tolerance as salinity clear
  2. Similarly, the authors should mention in Introduction the previous finding of these genes in several abiotic stress tolerance as it is not enough.
  3. I think the authors should add a separate heading for the conclusion since end of the discussion part is not well clearly represented.
  4. In materials and method, if the authors know-how was the final concentration of NaCl as they added 100mM NaCl every day, so at the end how was the final NaCl concentration? As well please add here references if already followed accordingly
  5. For drought treatment please add details water /irrigation system

As well please check several grammatical errors and spelling mistakes
