Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. What is the novelty of this study? Multiple similar studies (e.g. https://doi.org/10.1681/ASN.2017030287, https://doi.org/10.1111/ajt.16563, https://doi.org/10.1080/1744666X.2020.1693263, https://doi.org/10.1111/iji.12519) have already been published. 2. Huge parts of the results e.g. 2.6 are completely unreadable. Please rewrite for increased clarity and flow. Consider presenting some detailed numerical data in tables instead of the body of the article 3. Please provide more comprehensive captions for figures. They should be clear to anyone even without reading the whole article

Reviewer 2 Report

1.       “Presence of pretransplant DSA was analyzed using panel reactive antibody (PRA) screening and/ or single antigen bead (SAB) assay. In patients with negative PRA screening results SAB was not performed and in patients with positive PRA screening results, SAB assay was performed. Those with DSA mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of > 1000 were excluded.” MFI was determined by SAB assay. How can PRA assess the presence of DSA?

2.       Provide the definition of dnDSA? Did you focus on HLA class II dnDSA, and ignore HLA class I dnDSA

3.       Is there protocol for monitor dnDSA, and tacrolimus levels?

4.       Did any kidney transplant maintain on belatacept?

5.       “Multivariate” should be “multivariable”

6.       As the number of HLA class II dnDSA were 25, the number of variables included in multivariable analysis should not be over 3-4 variables, otherwise, it might cause overfitting. This should be acknowledged in the limitation.
