2-((5-(5-Methyl-2-phenyl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)thio)-1-phenylethan-1-one
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Five-membered , aromatic N-heterocycles constitute an important class of organic compounds. For this reason, development of new methods for their synthesis and structural studies are of current importance for researchers dealing with organic synthesis and structural studies.
Authors describe an original method for synthesis of a rare heterocyclic system which constitute by linkage of imidazoly-4-yl and 1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl rings.
Experimental work was carefully carried out and the structure was correctly solved by means of spectroscopic methods. Moreover, the purity of the sample was confirmed by elemental analysis (and not only by running the HRMS spectrum!).
In addition, a single crystal diffraction X-ray analysis showed all details related to the details of the structure of this exceptional molecule and to the crystals which it forms (after crystallization from DMF).
The work can be of interest for a circle of readers working on synthesis of extended heterocyclic compounds starting from hydrazides of corresponding carboxylic acids as well as for researchers interested in problems related to structural chemistry of N-heterocycles.
One remarks is addressed to Authors in the course of preparation of the revised version: an interesting report on remarkable biological activity of some hydrazides derived from imidazole N-oxides deserves citation in Introduction (see in: Eur. J. Med. Chem. 2013, 64, 389-395).
In conclusion: after minor revision, the work is recommended for publication in the journal.
