Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

My comments:

In the presented manuscript Baba and Yoshinari focused on the fully characterization of [μ-1,2-bis(dipheylphosphino)ethane-κ2P,P’]bis(3-mercapto-1,2-2 propanediolato-κS-gold(I)) coordination polymer by IR, 1H and 31P NMR, fluorescence or diffuse reflection spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction and elemental analyses.

My comments:

-The authors should be inserted a packing diagram of the 1D-chain polymer in the Supplementary Materials.

-What do you think, this polymer retains its polymeric nature in solutions? It can check by ESI-MS, or diffusion NMR.

-Please check and correct the reference list. I mean the abbreviation of journals, page numbers etc. I have highlighted some mistakes in the manuscript and attached it. If you use electronic Reference Management Software (Zotero, Mendeley ), please always check the format of references.

The manuscript can be published after a minor revision in Molbank.

Author Response

Thank you very much for reviewing our manuscript.

The following is the response to the comments.

Comment 1

The authors should be inserted a packing diagram of the 1D-chain polymerin the Supplementary Materials.

Response:

According to the comment, we have added the illustration of the 1D chain structure to the supporting information as Figure S10.

Comment 2

What do you think, this polymer retains its polymeric nature in solutions? Itcan check by ESI-MS, or diffusion NMR.

Response:

According to the suggestion, we measured the ESI-mass spectrum of 1. The spectrum showed only the signals due to the monomeric digold(I) complex, e.g. [Au2(H2tg)2(dppe)] + CH2Cl2 + Na+ (m/z = 1115.06), and no signals due to the oligomeric species. So, the supramolecular polymer structure in 1 was dissociated in the solution.

We have added the ESI-mass spectrum as Figure S11 in the supporting information and added the following description to the end of chapter 2.2 in the manuscript.

“The ESI-mass spectrum of 1 in CH2Cl2/MeOH (v/v = 1/1) showed a dominant monovalent signal corresponding to the digold(I) complex molecule {[Au2(dppe)(H2tg)2] + CH2Cl2 + Na}+ at m/z = 1115, while no signal due to the polymeric species was detected (Figure S11). This observation means that the 1D polymer structure in 1 was dissociated in the solution.”

Comment 3

Please check and correct the reference list. I mean the abbreviation ofjournals, page numbers etc. I have highlighted some mistakes in themanuscript and attached it. If you use electronic Reference ManagementSoftware (Zotero, Mendeley ), please always check the format of references.

Response:

We have checked and corrected the reference section, especially the journal name abbreviation and page numbers.
