Diethyl (5-Benzyl-2-(4-(N′-hydroxycarbamimidoyl)phenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)phosphonate
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Manuscript presented by Oscar Leonardo Avendaño Leon et al. shows a short note study about a synthesis of diethyl (5-benzyl-2-(4-(N'-hydroxycarbamimidoyl)phenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)phosphonate. The topic is very important due to potential biological application of this class of organic compounds. Thanks to the Authors for conducting this intriguing study.
An already well written and prepared manuscript. Easy to read and follow. I recommend the article to publish in Molbank but first the paper should be corrected. My decision – reconsider after minor revision. Comments to be considered, in order to further improve the manuscript quality:
(1) Would you explicitly specify the novelty of your work? What progress against the most recent state-of-the-art similar studies was made?
(2) Please add “microwave irradiation” to keywords.
(3) Please add full information (with details) about the reaction method monitoring (e.g. for TLC please add information about eluent, its ration as well as retardation factor for compounds).
(4) Please add more information about techniques aspects like inert NMR standard
(5) Into the supporting material the Authors should also add MS spectra for all compounds.
(6) Please check if all tables, figures, etc. are cited in the main text.
(7) Superscripts and subscripts as well as commas and dots should be checked and correct Avoid extra or lack of spaces and enters. Remove unnecessary capital letters in the text. Correct in whole manuscript.
(8) The English should be improved. Please use British English in the manuscript.

Author Response
Dear Editor,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to submit the revised version of our manuscript molbank-2632296, titled "Diethyl (5-benzyl-2-(4-(N'-hydroxycarbamimidoyl)phenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-yl)phosphonate".
We greatly appreciate the valuable feedback provided by the Reviewer 1 and the editorial team. In response to their insightful comments, we have made the following changes to the manuscript (P1: initial version; P2: modified version; L: line number).
- Review Report (Reviewer 1)
1) Would you explicitly specify the novelty of your work? What progress against the most recent state-of-the-art similar studies was made?
The abstract (P1L13-22 / P2L13-28) and the introduction (P1L36) were modified according to reviewer’s recommendations.
2) Please add “microwave irradiation” to keywords.
Microwave irradiation was added to the keywords: P1L23 / P2L29.
3) Please add full information (with details) about the reaction method monitoring (e.g. for TLC please add information about eluent, its ration as well as retardation factor for compounds).
The text was modified to indicate the conditions for monitoring the reactions using TLC. Materials and methods: P2L143-145, P2L157-160, P2L174-177, P2L198-200, P2L205.
4) Please add more information about techniques aspects like inert NMR standard
The text was modified to clarify that the residual 1H and 13C peaks in deuterated solvents (CHCl3-d and DMSO-d6) were used for chemical shift calibration; no additional internal standard was required: P2L131-133.
5) Into the supporting material the Authors should also add MS spectra for all compounds.
The supporting material document was updated to include MS spectra (S1-S4). The Materials and Methods section was modified to add the method: P2L115-120.
6) Please check if all tables, figures, etc. are cited in the main text.
The Figure 1 and the Scheme 1 are cited in the main text.
7) Superscripts and subscripts as well as commas and dots should be checked and correct Avoid extra or lack of spaces and enters. Remove unnecessary capital letters in the text. Correct in whole manuscript.
The whole manuscript was checked and corrected according to reviewer’s recommendations.
8) The English should be improved. Please use British English in the manuscript.
The wording has been adjusted to use a British English.
- Comment from Section Managing Editor
During our standard check of all submissions, we noticed that the Materials & Methods section had some similarities with previously published articles, please kindly revise to avoid the similarities.
Thank you for your feedback. The Materials & Methods section has been diligently revised and modified where possible. Please kindly consider that these similarities exist because it's the same research team.
Having realized these changes, we believe that these revisions have notably enhanced the quality and clarity of the manuscript. We earnestly trust that all recommendations have been successfully incorporated into this updated version.
