Thank you for the positive decision regarding this manuscript, and for sharing valuable feedback. Our detailed response is given below and the relevant revisions highlighted in green in the re-submitted manucpript file.
Comment 1: The title should be capitalized and the name should include brackets and parentheses. The Abstract should specify the intermediate as the "postulated intermediate" since the intermediate is not isolated and is an uncharacterized new compound. The CV analysis should be mentioned in the abstract.
Comment 2: Some minor grammatical issues are in the paper such as "metals" in the first line of the Introduction, which should be changed to "metal". There are others.
Comment 3: In the Results and Discussion section, complex 2 should be characterized (preferably) or otherwise listed as a tentative or postulated structure.
Comment 4: Materials and Methods: Change Bruker AM-300 machine to Bruker AM-300 instrument.
Comment 5: Procedure for 4: Should be 2-ethoxyethanol in two places. Also two instances where resulted should be resulting.
Response: The suggested corrections and additions were made in the appropriate places in manuscript.
Comment 6: Figure S2. Provide a scale-expanded scan or inset from δ150-120 to show better resolution of the signals.
Response: At the request of the Reviewer, we added insert with 13С spectrum area in the range of δ150-120.
Comment 7: Figure 1 (b) is mystifying. More CV details should be provided. For example: include the calculation of the LUMO and HOMO energies and the reference material. The CV curve looks broken. Oxidation and reduction peaks are small. Perhaps redo the CV scan. Questions: Is there a need to scan below -1500 mv and above 1500 mv? Were the cv measurements in N2 or other inert environment in order to rule out the reduction of dissolved oxygen? Was the background subtracted to rule out oxidation of solvent? Provide answers to these questions in the Experimental.
Response: In accordance with the Reviewer's requirement, we repeated the CV experiments in the range -2500 – 1700 mV using N,N-dimethylformamide as a solvent to ensure high solubility of the analyzed complex. Thus, we were managed to record high-quality CV curves presented in Figure 1 (b). Detailed calculations of HOMO, LUMO and band gap have been added to the reference section (ref. 8). Additional information on the experimental details has been added as well.
