Pancreatic Islets Exhibit Dysregulated Adaptation of Insulin Secretion after Chronic Epinephrine Exposure
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The article focuses on the effect of adrenaline (epinephrine) on beta cell function and apoptosis. Ultimately the adrenergic stimulation promotes insulin synthesis and secretion, but partially inhibites Sur1, and induces ROS accumulation with respectively down regulation of insulin efficiency and impairment antioxidant defense leading to β-cell damage.
The study is accurate, and of importance for the implications it could have in human pathology

Title: “Pancreatic Islets Exhibit Dysregulated Adaptation of Insulin Secretion after Chronic Epinephrine Exposure”
Dear Editor,
I read this paper and I think that:
- The role of supplementation should also be considered as it can influence the regulation of insulin secretion. Please discuss such a point.
- It would have been interesting the evaluation of both epinephrine and norephinephrine. Please discuss such a point.
- Please include more numerical data in the results section of the abstract. Please provide.
