Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

  1. The benefits of optimal meter placement and current market trend seems be missing from the introduction section
  2. How TVE estimate the benefit for the right placement of PMUs is not very clear and also elaborate on other metrics or other criteria used by others in this problem
  3. Clearly state the contributions of the paper at end of the introduction part.
  4. GA and PSO has already been used in several other papers to find optimal PMU placement. Include all the previous work in the literature and explain how this work is different

Great paper!

It deals with important topic that improve our ability to design resilient and strong grids.

Just two points:

1) try to extend the reason why you analyze GA and PSO. Readiness or what else?

2) you have to improve conclusions, provide more details of advantages and design future developments

  • The paper need proofread-ng as some grammatical and typo errors like

Measuremen in the 5th line in the abstract

Maximizing should be maximize in the introduction

“However, pseudo-measurements generated” the measurement is not generated it should be observed or stored

Equation should be equations in page 3

Remove clearly in the problem formulation

  • The optimization technique description is general and should be edited again to define the terms used in the work
  • The name of the optimization technique in [2] and [3] should be mentioned
  • The main contribution of the work should be highlighted at the end of the introduction
  • GA and PSO are old optimization techniques
  • Many other optimization techniques were used like modified PSO, elephant hurdling,,,,
  • The problem formulation is general and should be described based on the studied system
  • What is meant by rank and the top classification?
  • What about time delay in the signal send from PMU to the control center, this must be considered
