Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The authors presented a distributed optimization technique for optimal control of inverter-based microgrids. The proposed method is validated by comparing it with state-of-the-art. Some suggestions to improve the quality of this work are as follows:

1- Although the authors covered the previous research papers, the main contributions of this paper must be highlighted by discussing the advantages of the proposed approach.

2- Ensure all the acronyms are well defined, e.g., what is FM capability in the introduction section.

3- It is mentioned that the optimization problem also considers the economic dispatch. In this case, authors must discuss the types of costs considered and the source of such data.

4- How does the proposed method incorporate the intermittent nature of renewable sources including wind and solar etc?

5- What is the impact of problem size on the proposed method in terms of solution convergence and problem-solving time?

In this paper, a distributed optimization algorithm for frequency regulation (FR) and integrated economic dispatch (IED) of islanded microgrids is proposed. For the distributed economic dispatch problem (DEDP) with FR, the proposal uses an event-triggered mechanism-based projection gradient algorithm (PGA).

Simulation results with the IEEE 13-node system demonstrate the advantages of the proposed PGA algorithm related to the distributed average proportional integral (DAPI) algorithm and the traditional distributed gradient algorithm.
