Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper deals with a vegetation cover changes in Inner Mongolia, China. The authors use some widespread techniques and data to calculate and depict vegetation cover changes.

Despite the paper yields some contribution to the field, the representation of results needs a very deep revision. Please see the following main comments that are not exhaustive.

The title should be shorter.

Keywords are too general and lack some specific terms that would help to find the narrow topic of the paper.

Text needs a very thorough and neat editing. Some parts are hard to read because of endless doubling of the words. E.g., see the whole abstract (Line 13. Double "and" one-by-one in a single phrase. Line 15. Same for "area". Line 20,22 "Vegetation cover change"). I would suggest to completely revise the abstract. It would be beneficial to attract a native speaker.

Representation of the coordinates (line 107) is not common.

Figure 11. It is required to combine both area and percentage data on the same graph. The current representation looks weird.

Figure 13. It is unnecessary to show four numbers depicting a large histogram that takes a half of the page. Would you show the same data in the text?
