The manuscript brings an important technical issue related to the analysis soil enzyme activity: the nutrient addition (an experimental treatment) can alter enzyme degradation during soil storage, thus leading to inaccurate interpretation of the results when using stored soils. The text is well written and the results well presented. My main concern is the lack of the treatment just with N addition, as it is suggested that N fertilization would be the major driver of enzyme degradation. I agree that it can be an explanation, but there is also the possibility of a synergetic effect between N and P.  

Minor points:

-      The introduction is complete, but the paragraphs are too long.

-      Please provide the statistical comparison of data in Table 2.

-      Would you expect differences between AA and EU stands? Please discuss this aspect.
