Reviewer 2 Report
The paper 'Assessment of summer branch drop: A case study in four Portuguese cities' presents a question of present interest. Knowledge of the Summer branch drop (SBD) would be useful for experts working on the same subject in other countries. There isn’t much research out there for SBD, so a study on this problem would help gardeners, phytosanitary officers, and urban landscapers to understand what it is and why it happens, and how it can be prevented.
1. Title, abstract, and keywords
The title is clear and adequate to the purpose of the study. The abstract has to be improved. It must clearly present the objects, methods, and results. Keywords are not proper, as they present only the technics that are applied in the study.
2. Materials and Methods
2.1. Study Site
The scientific methods are properly used with adequate terminology, but the text must be improved. It would be better to present a map of Portuguese with the locations of the four studied parks in the cities.
3. 2. Results
Results are not clearly presented. There is no discussion of the results. The Latin names of the tree species and pathogen must be written in an appropriate way.
Conclusions are logically derived from the presented data but have to be improved.
References are appropriately used.
Minor editing of English language required.
