Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Dear Authors,

This is a clinical case report. Authors are reporting their findings about importance of lung disease while COVID19 (here they are talking about abscess in lungs) and clinicians should pay attention to it specifically if a patient is immunocompromised.

This Topic is relevant to COVID19 research as world scientists are still fighting this disease. It does add important clinical information about symptoms of the diseases that could potentially save a life.*

There are already reports published about lung abscess as a complication during or after COVID19, but it is rarely seen . here is the link to published report: *https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9925194/

*Author discussed the clinical case and explained the procedure they followed to treat the patient. Authors also explained what to do in similar cases in future. The references are appropriate.Clinical case reports are appropriately labeled and presented.*

Thanks.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is a nice case report regarding development of pulmonary abscess in a patient with COVID-19 pneumonia.

I have only one question regarding the manuscript: did the authors perform a bronchoscopy with protected bronchoalveolar lavage or brushing? This would be an effective way to exclude bacterial superinfection.

I have no major comments regarding the quality of english language

Reviewer 3 Report

The authors talked about a rare, but fatal complication referred as intraparenchymal lung abscess, reported in an individual affected with COVID-19 with a history of Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia. Firstly, I commend the authors for providing a very comprehensive explanation about all the treatment approaches and attempts made to save the patient's life. With that, I do have few questions regarding the details provided.

1. You mentioned that in about 6 patients, this complication is observed in the literature. I was wondering if you have included the citations? Also, it might be valuable to the readers if you would include the ages and gender of the patients in the main text.

2. Were you able to determine which COVID-19 variant was the individual was affected with? Did the individual took at least the first dose of the vaccine?

3. Were there any reported side effects when he was on the Ibrutinib therapy, in spite of being the condition in control.

4.Any family history of lung diseases or death due to lung/respiratory failure?

I believe the above information will be useful for the clinicians in determining the course of action if they were to encounter these type of cases in the future. I hereby recommend to accept the paper with minor revisions.
