Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Please avoid viz a viz expression, and stay in the frame of academic language.

Line 31: Belonging to

Line 34: Turkey

Line 49: which study?

Line 61: which rose varieties, belonging to which group, Rosa x hybrida?

Line 65: how many leaves in grams or number?

LIne 73: same question

Line 141: found to be statistically significant.

Line 167: ranged from

Lines 167 and 168: the highest and the lowest

LIne 192: describing

LIne 197: Phenols, plural

LIne 207: previous

Table 5 should be understandable on a stand-alone basis, so please design it in the standard academic expression. Mark significant correlations no matter the fact that they are all high. In the footnote add text/description where you will state the statitical analysis which provided those high and significant values.

Generally, there is no strong discussion that leads to a very general conclusion, without any specific recommendation. Please consider adding references that will not only compare one variety to another, one study to another but advance what your research brought. Are leaves easy to harvest, present in large amounts, readily available? What is the main contribution to the research field, nurseries, and wider application of the obtained results?

Where are those cultivars sold and grown, are they available worldwide?

How can growers obtain those varieties in order to produce significant quantities of the leaves to be sold to the processing industries?

Comments on the Quality of English Language

English need serious revision.

Author Response

As per your suggestion, we have made all the changes in the manuscript.

we have made the grammatical changes.

All the comments regarding Table 5 have been corrected and table representation.

The conclusion part has been rewritten according to your suggestion with reference studies.

And changes related to rose cultivation and industrial purpose have also been added in this revised manuscript.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The paper titled:"Evaluating the phytochemical composition and antioxidant activity in leaves of different rose varieties", submitted by Sharma & Kumari, to the International Journal of Plant Biology (IJPB), is a significant paper focuses on examining the phytochemical makeup and antioxidant properties of aqueous extracts derived from a range of rose leaf cultivars. Nonetheless, a comprehensive analytical approach is essential for precisely assessing the phytochemical composition; simply quantifying the average secondary metabolites falls short in the context of this comparative investigation.

* The introduction ought to emphasize the significance of the plant being examined, the already investigated biological functions (in certain varieties), and elucidate how the phytochemical profile and biological activity differ among these varieties. It should also clarify the reasoning behind the choice of these specific rose varieties for the research.

* The methods are briefly outlined, there is a lack of detail that would be required for reproducibility. For instance, what were the specific extraction procedures for chlorophyll and carotenoid analysis ?

The title of the manuscript has also been changed according to your suggestion.

Yes, we have made the changes in the introduction part as per your suggestion.

The procedure for chlorophyll and carotenoid estimation has also been added in details as per your suggestion.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This article discusses a study focused on the phytochemical composition and antioxidant activity in aqueous extracts of rose leaves, particularly examining variations among different rose varieties. this article can be accepted after the following revisions:

Begin the abstract with a brief introduction that provides further context for the study. For instance, why is it important to investigate the properties of rose leaves in addition to their flowers for both the industry and medical research?

Avoid unnecessary repetition, such as using the word "important" multiple times in a sentence. For example, in the sentence "colour the considered one of the quality important parameters," it's unclear and redundant.

Some sentences are long and complex, making them difficult to understand.

"Turky" should be corrected to "Turkey."

"rose" should be capitalized to "Rose" since it refers to the plant species.

"considered one of the quality important parameters" should be rephrased for clarity.

"Adaxial Surface" and "Abaxial Surface" should be consistently capitalized for clarity and consistency.
