The paper presents a combination of qualitative and quantitative procedures for the assessment. 

I have just few minor corrections.

Lines 33-35: rephrase.

Equation 2: please check. It seems that the denominator is identical to the numerator.

Line 251: "Figure3Figure6" change with "Figures 3-6".

In the figures and in the text the frequency is not defined. Please add the units.

Risk assessment of flood disaster caused by Typhoon rainstorms is important for flood disaster prevention and alleviation in the Typhoon-impacted regions. This study mapped the spatial distribution of typhoon flood risk in Guangdong province in the South China by combining the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and multi-factor analysis through geographic information system (GIS) and the comprehensive weighted evaluation. The assessed typhoon flood risk map is validated by comparing it with the historical records of typhoon floods in Guangdong province. The study is of technical new points and an important reference value for formulating disaster management strategies in the study area as well as in similar climatic regions in the world.


Several issues and revision suggestions are as follows:

1. In Figure 1, main rivers and major cities are suggested to added to show more information related to the study.

2. In Figure 2, below the " Restorability ", the indicator "Drainage density" seems wrong, inconsistent with the text, please check it.

3.  Section 4.1.2. Determination of weights is quite important in the study, however, "The AHP method was used to determine the weights of the evaluation indicators" is too brief to know the details. Please give more descriptions, especially its relation with Appendix (Table 6 - 10).

4. In Figure 9, in the Very Low risk areas of the assessed map, there occurred some historical Typhoon floods. More discussions are desired to explain the reason, the adopted method or data limitations and possible study-improving directions.
