Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper attempts to study the relationship between environmental regulation and firm performance by considering the mediating effects of sustainable exploration innovation and the effect of environmental commitment.

I suggest that the author strengthen the research background and motivation in the introduction section. This manuscript has described its contribution in the conclusion, but I suggest that the author also emphasize the contribution in the Introduction in response to research motivation.

In addition, is the 380 valid questionnaire sufficient? In particular, this only accounts for 41% of the number of firms (i.e. 926 firms) that were originally selected or set.

Reviewer 2 Report

The contribution is well written with a clear definition of the objective and complete description of methods and results.

I would suggest to slightly change abstract and conclusion section to delete the majority of acronyms to allow the reader an easier understanding of the proposed issue. It is not necessary to list all variable names. In my opinion, it would be more useful to give a general overview of results.

This is a very well written draft. I do not have any actual proposals for improving. Only, please check the spelling once again for minor mistakes. (row 400 'we teste the direct', there might be some other similar)
