Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

What is the main objective of the work? I would like to see clearly why this work has been written. What were the reasons that motivated this investigation?

In my opinion, the results of the investigation are not sufficiently relevant. These are aspects known in the literature on rural tourism.

The interest would be to show more clearly what are the specific actions that should be applied in the destinations where the survey was conducted.

The paper “Influence of Sustainable Development by Tourists’ Place Emotion and Analysis of the Multiply Mediating Effect of Attitude” focuses on place emotion and studying tourist perception for rural tourism products in China. The topic of the paper is timely and interesting.

The paper is well-written and the analysis is robust. The research methods are adequate. However, there are several issues I would like the authors to consider:

The paper title is too long and confusing. Can you make it more concise and clear?

There is lots of debate and research on the rural tourism in China. While being a positive and promising trend, it is also criticised for bringing boards of tourists to artificially created “plastic imitations” of rural dwellings. Some rural tours follow the same route and in fact are harming  the countryside. Would you be able to reflect on that a bit?

The sample selection (subsection 3.2) is poorly described. It is not enough to mention 700 questionnaires were distributed and 650 were found valid and processed. What was the sampling method? Did the authors use snowball or random sampling? Why the two provinces of the huge and vast China were chosen? Can your results be generalised?

Sections 5 and 6 (Conclusions and Discussions) should be swapped. It is weird to have discussions after conclusions. Perhaps the authors can merge them too.

-----The new title is Influence of Sustainable Development by Tourists’ Place Emotion: Analysis of the Multiply Mediating Effect of Attitude

---I have added the reflect in the discussion.

------I think the conclusions after the analysis of result, then we have a discussion about the result.

The paper is very interesting and well structured. Please be more specific regarding contribution of the paper. Please add scientific contribution in abstract. Please detail in the methodology part of the paper – how and who was conducted the research; Explain better how the data has been gathered and processed? The authors should explain the procedure for obtaining the sample.

What is meaning of 5A tourist attractions – please explain. In conclusion add future research direction and limitation of the paper. The conclusion need to be connected with the area in analysis in order to show the real importance of the article.
