Optimization Design of X-ray Conveyer Belt Length for Subway Security Check Systems in Beijing, China
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
How to limit traffic jams caused by security checks for the Beijing Metro during rush hour? This subject is relevant and this work will help meet a real need of users of the Beijing metro. The model developed in this article is very interesting and it can be extended to major rail and aeronautical centers vulnerable to terrorist attacks, as well as to the express industry. The paper is well written and the text is clear and easy to read. The conclusions are consistent with the evidence and arguments presented. They address the main question posed.

Reviewer 2 Report
The authors present the implementation of SCS with China's subway stations as examples while trying to correlate the problem with the length of conveyer belt of X-ray machine 10 (CBXM). The work methodology is well-planned and the corresponding results are analysed in a very good way giving an insight to this continuing growing problem. Some suggestions would be to consider instead of 1 belt, two or more belts (thus the optimum amount to fully satisfy the people checked) either of similar size or even different to see the amount of people that would correspond according the needs of each subway station. Still, the work is well-panned and done and it is suggested to have the paper accepted as it is since it provides a good additional part in the already existing problem and literature.

The main corrections in the paper and the responds to the reviewer’s comments are as flowing:
Point: Some suggestions would be to consider instead of 1 belt, two or more belts (thus the optimum amount to fully satisfy the people checked) either of similar size or even different to see the amount of people that would correspond according the needs of each subway station.
Response: We sincerely accept the suggestions and add this sentence in part 4: “Applying two or more conveyor belts can also be tested in field operation for an improved capacity with consideration of costs.”
We appreciate for Reviewers’ warm work earnestly, and hope that the correction will meet with approval.
