Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The theoretical part of the paper is not enough in-deep. Is based on a small amount of the literature mainly from the country of authors.

They should use more positions from international databases also describing how the problem is a view in another country of the world.

It would be best to divide introduction in into introduction and literature review and in this section describe the state-of-the-art in the case of the described problem.

Also, authors should add a conclusion section and in this section compare their results with international literature.

In conclusion they should write something about the limitation of research and scientifical and practical implication of the results.

Author Response

Response to Reviewer 1 Comments

Point 1: - The title reflects the intention and the topic of the article quite well. Although the topic is timely and interesting, the paper in its current form needs some minor revision in introduction part, to examine literature on previous studies.

Response 1: We appreciate for the comment.

Point 2: -I would also suggest to the authors to extend their literature review regarding the field. Clearly highlight what enviornmental efficiency means and how does it provide benefits?. It is not clear how this paper contributes to the extant literature. I suggest rewriting the introduction part and critically analyze the literature and emphasizes on the research gap.

Response 2: We appreciate for the comment. We have added several paragraphs in Introduction and Literature review to describe the research gap.

Point 3: -Moreover, the literature cited is not exhaustive and is relatively not recent. You might want to increase the number of works cited, explain in detail what they find and what are their actual limitations. Moreover, you should add more recent studies on the topic. For example, highlight the importance of green house gases and its impact on human and natural environment. For example, "Governing interfirm relationships for social sustainability: the relationship between governance mechanisms, sustainable collaboration, and cultural intelligence." Sustainability 10, no. 12 (2018): 4473. In this article authors highlight the importance of the industrializations impact. Industrialization impacts on the quality of human life and damages the natural environment. There is growing recognition of environmental sustainability issues in the literature. Industrialization impacts increase human vulnerabilities and contribute to an increasing demand for waste conservation, renewable energy resources, water infrastructure development, decreasing greenhouse gases emissions, recycling, and waste management, provision of health and safety, access to education, reducing inequalities and child labor, and improving quality of life of the community.

Response 3:  We appreciate for the comment. We have added some corresponding papers in this version. The papers mentioned above are also cited in this version.

Point 4: -The methodology is very informative, but it requires major English proofreading.

Response 4: Thanks for the comment. We have double checked the whole paper.

Point 5: -Moreover, the conclusions reached are really far from what one can infer from the  results. The conclusion should be rather organized around arguments avoiding simply describing details without providing much meaning.

Response 5: We appreciate for the comment. We have modified the conclusion this time. Actually, all the words are concluded from the results. For example, “the performance of waste gas treatment is weaker than that of industrial production” is obtained by comparing the efficiency scores in different stages.

Minor General Comments

- The manuscript is potentially original contributive but needs a minor revision.

-Some sentences from conclusion could be moved up in discussion section. Conclusion section must be well written and clearly explain study findings.

- Implications for future research may also be included in the conclusion at the end. This research has article has created a lively discussion on so many issues that were hitherto unheard of and not addressed.

- Also explain briefly what the future research opportunities are.
