Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article contemplate a several social nets, but forget the more important nets between young people "WhastApp". I considerer incorporate some paragraph about this, could cite some references as Vilches et al [86.      Vilches Vilela, Mª J, Reche Urbano, E., & Marín-Díaz, V. (2015). Diseño y validación de un cuestionario para evaluar WhatsApp en la regulación del trabajo de grupo. Etic@net, 15(2), 245-272], or Alonso-Garcia et al [Alonso-García, S., Morte-Toboso, E., & Almansa-Núñez, S. (2014). Redes sociales aplicadas a la educación: EDMODO. EDMETIC, 4(2), 88-111. https://doi.org/10.21071/edmetic.v4i2.3964] or Serrat [Serrat Antoli, N. (2015). Metodologías participativas y Facebook en el ámbito universitario. Innoeduca. International Journal of Technology and Educational Innovation, 1(1), 25-32. doi:http://dx.doi.org/10.20548/innoeduca.2015.v1i1.104]

With respect at method, I'll included in line 167 the reference at Reche et al [Reche Urbano, E., Quintero Ordoñez, B., & Vilches Vilela, M. J. (2017). Influencia mediática en la vida de los menores. Proceso de construcción y validación de un instrumento. EDMETIC, 6(2), 359-381. https://doi.org/10.21071/edmetic.v6i2.6939] after "In line with the indications of Carter-Dios and Pérez [37]  and Reche...."

And finally in discussion part,  I think they could included some a coinciding results that they can find in references suggest before

This is a very well written paper which I really enjoyed reading. I do not have any request for significant changes but did have a few suggestions while reading the paper:

L63 The phrase ‘merely transferring knowledge’ is a hyperbolic simplification of the learning process as currently practiced and ‘lectures becoming a thing of the past’  should not be used without supporting data.

L104 I suggest toning down claims such as: ‘On the other hand, the widespread awareness of promoting sustainable education with a wide  range of opportunities in all areas makes promoting the use of these technologies for educational  purposes practically an obligation’

L107 The objective ‘This study aims to provide the academic community with a competent and effective instrument  to gather information on the current use patterns and attitudes of university youth on social networks. ‘ is clear but the following sentences are not:

‘For this purpose, the authors address the design and validation of a questionnaire.

The application of the resulting instrument will allow teachers to have an up-to-date view of the  use patterns of university youth on these platforms. Fact which is an essential requirement for implementing pedagogical proposals that involve the use of social networks within the field of higher  education in any branch of knowledge.’

L109 Explain why a questionnaire is used to achieve the objective and what type of questionnaire.

L239 Not clear how you arrive at 4 factors from the scree plot in figure1?

L320 Rephrase ‘patterns and attitudes of university youth on the social media sites studied’

I am concerned that in Section 4, the way it is written,   the results seem to merely confirm previous studies, the authors should also emphasize the new insights they have gained.
