Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

thank you for this excellent manuscript. It is most actual and your pig value chain case can easily be adapted to study the other value chains as well.

What I liked the most, was the way that you, firstly approached this dilemma of food value chains' price margin by observing the power relations in the value chain, secondly used the sustainability approach that should never be forgotten, and thirdly included the social capital ideology by observing the collaboration, network and knowledge transfer. You describe well the value chain structure and general processes.

The structure of you manuscript is, what it should be like. Your manuscript is easy to read and follow. The citations are correctly marked. There are few points that I would like you to correct, to make you manuscript even better:

  1. at the Introduction, on line 57-58 you already show one of your results. The results you can show only in the abstract, results, discussion and conclusion. Not in your introduction
  2. line 115: Gereffi et al. argue.....  You missed the citation number
  3. line 253: Step 4: Four stakeholders were interviewed
    1. I could not find any method: thematic open-ended, semi-structured. were they recorded, transcript, coded. What were the questions
  4. You describe well the results and analyses, but check that you explain properly how you got the results. If not, your results have no value
  5. Discussion is overwhelming and covers your results. The meaning of a discussion is to proof the validity and reliability of your research. There you compare and strengthen your choices regarding the methods and your results. In your discussion you discuss with yourselves. You have to modify it be analyzing it: do you reason well the choice of the topic and has someone studied the same, what were you approaches and has someone approached the value chain in a similar way, and after that you discuss you results. A discussion should have several and proper references

With these revisions that will take you couple of days, your manuscript will be ready.

Et encore, merci pour ce manuscrit exellent et très courant!

Et bonne chance pour finir vos Thèses!
