Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This is an interesting article that shows how to apply the principles of the Kanban system in practice to increase the efficiency of a production company.

This explanation has been provided clearly and transparently. The topic is relevant and of interest to the audience of this journal.

This paper is based on rigorous academic standards. The content of this paper is technically accurate and sound.

The structure of the manuscript is correct. The abstract is concise and sufficient.

The research problem is logical and clearly presented.

The manuscript includes a new research findings. The research results are correctly interpreted and conclusions are sound.

Tables and figures are appropriate and adequate. The format of tables and figures is correct.

References are complete, but the only dissatisfaction is caused by the slightly too small number of cited publications in this area.

Reviewer 2 Report

The paper presents a simulation model for detecting and solving bottlenecks in the logistics flow of a manufacturing company. The core of the research is interesting, however, the paper has several weaknesses, as follows. Thus, I recommend major revision.

  • Introduction: The contributions and magnitude of this paper are not clearly stated. The authors should review the literature in the field and contextualize their model and analysis with respect to previous studies.
  • The paper contains a lot of statements and terms without clarification. E.g., in the introduction, the authors introduced lean manufacturing principles, green transport logistics system without clarifying the meaning and supporting the discussion. E.g., What does it mean “green transport logistics systems” in the manufacturing context? Another example, Section 2 line 83 “The main advantage of Kanban is transparency”.
  • Section 3 Case study. The problem description and the problem setting must be detailed.  In particular, the authors have to provide more details about the problem addressed by means of the simulation model, the assumptions, as well as the source of data. E.g., which are the main purposes, goals, and needs (perceived by a specific stakeholder) that this tool will overcome?
  • Section 6 Conclusions. Discuss potential limitation of the model, if any, and enhance the discussion of future research.
  • Minor comments:
    • Section 3 line 90. “deals” is repeated
    • Section 3 line 188 “In Fig. 7 The capacity” remove the capital letter T.
    • Caption of Figure 8 "cicrle" probably should be replaced with "circle" or "circuit".

Review Report:

  • Introduction: The contributions and magnitude of this paper are not clearly stated. The authors should review the literature in the field and contextualize their model and analysis concerning previous studies. - The literature review in the context of the realized case study was supplemented
  • The paper contains a lot of statements and terms without clarification. E.g., in the introduction, the authors introduced lean manufacturing principles, green transport logistics systems without clarifying the meaning and supporting the discussion. E.g., What does it mean “green transport logistics systems” in the manufacturing context? Another example, Section 2 line 83 “The main advantage of Kanban is transparency”. -

The author Saada, R. Green Transportation in Green Supply Chain Management, Green Supply Chain, 2020, DOI: 10.5772 / intechopen.93113, in their study processed information that focuses on the issue of Green Transportation. The author presents green transportation principles, examples of green transportation in connection with logistics, focus on sustainability in green transportation in the whole green supply chain.

To Section 3: Case study was added information, which specifies the problem that is addressed in the study.

  • Section 6 Conclusions. Discuss potential limitations of the model, if any, and enhance the discussion of future research - .
  • Conclusion was extended by a discussion that supports the idea of using the model in general, the limitations that the model created for a particular company has and also the potential for its further development.

  • Minor comments:
    1. Section 3 line 90. “deals” is repeated - oriented to

There is no more information about the essence and origins of Kanban concept.

In the conclusions, the authors should pay attention to the research limitations and directions of further research.
