Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The study is richly illustrated with tables, only the main / essential research data should be selected and presented in the article. In the analysis part of the empirical study, the authors could compare their data with the research results of other authors.

It is difficult to understand the conclusions, their scientific significance, novelty. Conclusions should not use statements paraphrased by other authors. There should be more focus on the results of the authors of this article.

Author Response

I want to express my great gratitude to the reviewers, who took their time and showed great willingness to help us, to improve the work in order to be in the journal. For many of us, this work and the possibility of publishing it in a journal of this high category, means preserving jobs and titles in our institutions.

As the reviewer suggested, we reduced the number of tables, and presented some data through graphs to make it more understandable to readers. We also included the importance of research, as well as comparisons with other similar research. The changes are marked in red. From the part of the conclusion, we left out the other literature and focused on our conclusions, and also emphasized the importance of the author's research.

Once again, many thanks to the reviewers for the opportunity to improve the work and publish it in the journal.

Kind Regards

Reviewer 2 Report

The article presents interesting research, but it’s not very well prepared.

Below are some remarks, after taking into account which text is suitable for a publication, but my current decision is a major revision:

  • Paper is not prepared according to the instruction for authors,
  • Majority of the tables should be converted into graphs for a better interpretation, in a current form it’s very hard to compare data,
  • Tables 7 and 8 should be deleted and described in the text. I think table should contains a little bit more than a signle (!) two data.
  • I’m really confused about something described by the ASCII sign in row 606. First of all it have to be very clearly described e.g. as figure. Secondly current form is a totally unreadable/understandable, I suggest use colours.
  • The main and most important objection to the work is the contribution of the authors into the field. Authors should very clearly define what is their contribution into the research field and it brings new. It should be taken into account that the "Sustainability" journal is indexed in the WoS database with high IF, thus articles in this journal must be innovative and make a significant contribution to the field.

Answer to all remark please place into the corrected text for a future readers.

All the best and stay safe,

At the outset I would like to thank the reviewers for their time and great willingness to help us, to improve our work and to publish it in the high category journal Sustainability. Thank you very much, because for many of us, our survival at work depends on the publication of our work.
As the reviewer suggested, we reduced the number of tables, and presented some data through graphs to make it more understandable to readers. Tables are discarded according to the reviewer's suggestions. We also included the importance of research, as well as comparisons with other similar research. We have entered data on foreign visitors, more precisely on the origin of visitors. The changes are marked in red. The text is arranged according to the instructions for the authors. The text is reviewed and harmonized with the tables and graphs, so that readers will be able to find their way easier when reading the research. Everywhere we emphasized the importance of research and the contribution of the author's work. We hope that the reviewers will appreciate these changes and that we can look forward to the publication of the paper.

Once again, many thanks to the reviewers for the opportunity to improve the work and publish it in the journal.

Kind Regards

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper is interesting and the proposed theme is of great importance especially for the development of emerging destinations, in particular in this historical phase in which the consequences of the pandemic seem to offer more opportunities precisely to areas with characteristics of greater sustainability and able to work on quality and distinctiveness of the product. Craft beer tourism represents an opportunity both for the local growth of craftsmanship and to consolidate the identity of the destination.

The review of bibliography is good and the methodology is well constructed.

However, to develop the theme of craft beer tourism as a tool for sustainable and competitive development, it would be important to also focus on the following aspects that I would suggest to the authors to investigate:

- The composition of the interviewed sample by origin, in order to highlight the percentage of residents, excursionists from other areas, tourists from the country and abroad. A prevalence of residents still allows us to evaluate the importance of craft beer vs factory beer, but in this case craft beer tourism remains marginal

- Concerning tourists, what is their comparative evaluation with respect to other similar events, how important is the event in choosing the destination, how long they stay and what are their other activities during their stay.

-  The above info is essential to assess how and to what extent craft beer tourism is able to activate the tourism supply chain

- How do the characteristics of the different craft beers relate to the territory and therefore to the local identity?
